The Rev Rx Podcast Recap: Episode 63 with Heather Day
Finances. They’re one of the biggest sources of stress in our lives—and in our marriages. But for some reason, we tend to keep them separate from our faith, like God gets access to everything except the bank account.
In this episode of the Rev Rx Podcast, I sat down with Heather Day—wife, mom, and author of 'Money and Spirit'. And let me tell you—this wasn’t just a conversation about money. It was a conversation about identity, surrender, and the kind of freedom that only comes when we stop trying to control it all.
Heather shared how a simple, raw prayer in a restaurant parking lot changed everything:
“Jesus, we’ve made a mess. Help us.”
From that moment, God began to show up—through unexpected friends, financial classes, and slow but steady healing in their marriage. What started as a Bible study became her new book, which explores how the fruit of the Spirit—peace, patience, joy, self-control—applies directly to our finances.
Here are a few truths we unpacked together:
Finances and faith aren’t separate. God cares about what stresses you out. And if money is keeping you up at night, He wants to meet you right there.
Tithing is a trust issue. It’s not about the amount—it’s about saying, “God, I believe you can do more with 90% than I can with 100%.”
Your identity isn’t in your income. You don’t need to buy your worth. You already have it in Christ.
Surrender isn’t a one-time deal. It’s a daily, Spirit-led journey of giving your worries back to God—over and over again.
Heather reminded us that it’s not about being rich. It’s about being faithful. And honestly, sometimes what we need most isn’t more money—it’s more trust.
One of my favorite lines from our conversation:
“When you put your trust in money, all you’ll be is broke.”
If you’ve ever felt the weight of financial pressure or wrestled with the tension between your faith and your wallet—this episode is for you.
